UDDEHOLM VANCRON 40 – Winner of the 2007 EPMA Award of Merit in the category equipment and materialsprint
printBenefits
Saves coating, decoating, repolishing and recoating costs and the time involved.
Final adjustments can be made after heat treatment – this is not possible after a coating has been applied.
Often outperforms coated tooling.
Example 1
Component: part for pump housing
Tool type: draw die
Work material: 0.5 mm thick AISI 304 stainless steel
The draw ring made from an uncoated PM 23 type steel produced around 83,000 parts before galling occurred. The uncoated UDDEHOLM VANCRON 40 ring showed no signs of galling after 18 million parts.
Example 2
Component: automotive structural part
Tool type: forming block
Work material: 2.6 mm thick HSLA (High Strength Low Alloy) steel
The TD (Toyota Defusion)coated D2 type of forming block had to be decoated and recoated after around 18,000 pressings. The uncoated UDDEHOLM VANCRON 40 block produced over 400,000 parts and only required some light polishing and stoning between some of the runs.
